Inspection by the mayor Giuseppe Falcomatà, the deputy mayor Paolo Brunetti and the councilor for social policies Lucia Nucera, at the Arghillà proximity center where the redevelopment works of the structure which will host associations, social and local organizations have been completed.

Spaces that will be added to that used for the healthcare of the residents of the neighborhood thanks to the healthcare center activated on the initiative of a group of volunteer doctors from Ace, who carry out activities on premises made available by the Municipality of Reggio Calabria.

“We continue on the path of urban regeneration with the aim of restoring services, decorum and opportunities for participation to one of the most delicate neighborhoods in the province of Reggio Calabria, but above all with the primary intention of restoring dignity to the people who live there – these are the words of the Mayor Giuseppe Falcomatà, who added: “We transform physical spaces into places to live which will guarantee that sense of proximity which for too long has been missing from an urban and social periphery such as it has been considered Arghillà. We think it is necessary to create new, positive relationships, giving the right recognition to that part of the community that has always animated a complex territory; but we think that it is above all necessary to develop a vision of public space that brings together the life of families with aggregative and social activity”.

Councilor Nucera spoke of a path that starts from afar “Since we took office, the critical issues of the Arghillà area have been at the top of our agenda. Many projects and initiatives have been launched to respond to the requests of a disillusioned, angry and often resigned community. With the redevelopment of the Polo it will be possible to start a process of democratic participation and above all the provision of services that will concern children, families and more social groups vulnerable”.

Deputy Mayor Brunetti explained the roadmap that will accompany the action of the Municipal Administration in the coming months – “The calls for tenders will be launched shortly to be able to entrust social entities, associations and the neighborhood committee with the necessary spaces to continue the extraordinary work that has made a great contribution to Arghillà and its community in recent years. These positive presences have represented an outpost of social participation and legality and, shortly, they will be able to take advantage of redeveloped, sustainable and functional places to continue carrying out their activities”.
