The fact that we are not talking about it does not mean that nothing is moving on the front of the new regional council. Indeed, it is probably just the symptom of constant under-the-radar work. Moreover, it was the President of the Region Roberto Occhiuto himself who clearly stated a few days ago, on the sidelines of the judgment of equalization of the regional report by the Court of Auditors, that the Council issue was under his attention. The newly reappointed governor did not comment on the names. And, indeed, in the subsequent “actions” he seemed to send out some smoke signals (such as the election of the mayor of Catanzaro Nicola Fiorita, center-left, at the helm of Arrical) to his people to make it clear who has the reins of the coalition.
As you will remember, Occhiuto has stated that he wants to delegate more than in the past – his executive will start with 7 elements and then move to 9 after the reform of the statute – but he is also continuing to stick to his “presidential” attitude that he had already shown in his first mandate, giving various dossiers a direction of his choice. At this stage he is keeping at bay any demands from the political forces who, rightly from their point of view, are champing at the bit after having completed the mission of victory in the regional elections of 5 and 6 October.
