Lawyers in revolt. The transfer of the “Reset” maxi-trial from the bunker hall of Lamezia Terme (flooded due to a recent storm) to that of Castrovillari triggered a very strong protest from the Council of the Order, chaired by Ornella Nucciand of the Criminal Chamber led by Roberto Le Pera. The Bruzi lawyers have asked that the maxi-trial be celebrated in the capital city and not in other locations. Cosenza is, in fact, the seat of the natural judge called to evaluate the positions of the dozens of defendants from Cosenza who have ended up under investigation. But the Presidency office of the Court of Cosenza communicated that there are no “protected rooms” capable of hosting a hearing of this magnitude. The mayor of the city lined up alongside the togas of the Forum (among the oldest in the region), Franz Caruso and, next to him, the PD council group, coordinated by Francesco Alimena. The Dem councilors write: «They express surprise and regret at the refusal of the Presidency of the Court of Cosenza against the legitimate expectation of the lawyers of the prestigious Court of our city, to hold trials in their own Court of Cosenza. This battle of civilization, which criminal lawyers are waging, is even more important because, if won, it would cure an original sin: seeing an important trial such as “Reset” take place in Cosenza, where the natural judge pre-established by law and constitutional dictate and not in Lamezia, where a useless bunker courtroom has the sole function of spectacularizing the trial, great waste of public money and terrorizing tourists and travelers visiting our beautiful and maligned Region, who must see the sign indicating this cathedral in the desert, prominently displayed under the one indicating Lamezia airport.
