Jannik Sinner returned to the field with a victory in the first round of Roland Garros. The world number 2 beat the American Christopher Eubanks (n.43) in three sets (6-3, 6-3, 6-4) on the red clay of the Parisian slam, after a hip injury forced him to skip the Italian Internationals.

“My hip is fine, I'm not 100% fit, we're trying to recover it”: commented the Italian champion. «We worked a lot with my team, without a team behind you you can't do these things; I know there are some things I need to improve on, my team pushes me every day to try to improve and be happy on the pitch which is the most important thing.” «I'm happy to be back on the court», said Sinner, «this is a very special tournament for me, I played my first quarter-final in a Slam here. In recent years I haven't played at my best, I try to build something day by day. I'm happy with today's performance.”

Winning debut for Jasmine Paolini in the singles draw at Roland Garros. In the first round the Tuscan tennis player beat the Australian Daria Saville in two sets, with a score of 6-3, 6-4. Paolini did well to maintain her concentration after the second set had suffered a long stop due to rain, with the score 5-4 in her favour.
