The all-Italian semi-final of Roland Garros between Matteo Arnaldi and Flavio Cobolli will be broadcast free-to-air on channel Nove. The match, scheduled in Paris, will be broadcast live today at 7pm, thus allowing all fans to follow one of the most important events in the recent history of Italian tennis for free.
The broadcaster itself announced it through an official note.
Binaghi’s thanks
The president of the Italian tennis and padel federation, Angelo Binaghi, spoke on the decision, expressing appreciation for the choice adopted by Eurosport.
«This is a gesture of great sensitivity and attention towards the millions of fans who are enthusiastically experiencing one of the most important moments in the history of Italian tennis» declared Binaghi.
According to the federal president, the availability demonstrated by the broadcaster demonstrates how it is possible to identify shared solutions when there are interests at stake that go beyond the simple sporting event.
«A cultural choice as well as a television one»
«The availability demonstrated by Eurosport demonstrates how it is possible to find intelligent and collaborative solutions when there is a general interest of the country at stake and the possibility of bringing millions of people closer to sport» added Binaghi.
For the number one of Fitp, in moments of particular sporting importance the valorization of movement and the sharing of collective emotions should prevail over exclusively commercial logic.
«When sport manages to involve the entire country, making it accessible to the greatest possible number of people means making a choice of value not only television, but also cultural and social» he concluded.
The semi-final between Arnaldi and Cobolli will however guarantee Italy the presence of an Italian tennis player in the Roland Garros final, confirming the extraordinary moment experienced by the national tennis movement.
