She had become known for her magical rites in support of Vladimir Putin, but the notoriety did not avoid legal trouble for Alyona Polyn, born Elena Sulikova, 45 years old. A Moscow region court sentenced her to two years in prison for “inciting hatred and violence” against practitioners of traditional religions.
What made her lose favor with the authorities was the book “My Name is Polyn”, which according to the Russian Prosecutor’s Office contained expressions of contempt towards the Orthodox clergy and incited violence. The work, published in around 200 copies, had been distributed online.
In 2019 the woman appeared in the international media during a pro-Putin occult ritual, surrounded by other followers of the “Empire of the Strongest Witches” group. He declared that he wanted to “improve the quality of life in Russia and help the president.”
According to the Ivanteyevka judges, between 2020 and 2023 Polyn wrote the offending volume, carrying out an “offensive and threatening” message towards Orthodox religious people. Arrested in June 2024, ritual daggers, mummified bats, skulls and an altar were found in her house.
In court he admitted his responsibilities, as reported by the Prosecutor’s Office on 3 October. Despite the sentence, after the months already spent in prison, she could be released soon. In 2023 the BBC also reported his name for another reason: the hypothesis that his group had obtained classified information in Ukraine through a spy.
