The works were launched by the rector, Prof.ssa Giovanna Spatarifrom the proretrice to research, Prof.ssa Paola Dugoby the Directors of the Engineering and Chibafaram Departments, respectively, Proff. Ernesto Cascone and Nancy Spanòby the deputy director of the Mift department, prof. Christmas Manganarofrom the prorettore in search of the University of Catania (leader of the project) and president of the Samothrace Foundation, prof. Salvatore Baglio and by the scientific manager of the Samothrace project for Unime, prof. Giovanni Neri.
In parallel to demo, there were technical presentations relating to the issues of interest for the Samothrace ecosystem (environment, energy, health, sustainable mobility, agriculture, cultural heritage). The project “Samothrace – Sicilian Micro and Nano Technology Research and Innovation Center”, In particular, it is one of the 11 ecosystems of innovation approved and financed by the Ministry University and Research in response to the PNRR call, Mission 4, component 2, investment 1.5,.
Samothrace, which involves a total of 28 partners (the four Sicilian universities, the research centers, multinationals, SMEs and Start ups of our territory or operational in Sicily), has received a financing of 120 million euros and has the final objective of enhancing the territorial vocation and the excellence of the areas of interest. The project is articulated along the common thread of the micro and nano electronic and micro and nano systems with applications in six strategic areas (pillar) for the Sicilian region: agriculture, energy, environment, sustainable mobility, health, cultural heritage. In addition to the partners who started the activity in 2022, the Samothrace ecosystem today includes another 79 realities that contribute to the execution of cascade calls and which are the protagonists of this edition of the technical review meeting at the University of Messina.
