“It is a preliminary strategic moment that we have decided to organize to promote citizen participation, because the future of the city does not just concern this administration, but everyone.” The Mobility Councilor Paolo Malara he is satisfied with the first two public releases which brought the master plan approved by Palazzo San Giorgio on 31 October to citizens, associations and professionals.
The four working groups are precisely this: the possibility of “building” a shared vision. «The master plan is not a partisan tool, but a vision that everyone can participate in creating». And from the outcome of the first two meetings the path could be the right one. Citizens want a different city, they ask for a change of pace in this direction and they want to be an active part in the process of change. The ground on which to develop this shared idea of the future could be precisely the master plan, the great planning which has as its ultimate aim the idea of transform Reggio Calabria into a technological, human-scale, supportive, green city, where each neighborhood lives and thrives thanks to the synergy between institutions and citizens. The master plan is nothing more than a 130-page declaration of intent, in which “principles, guidelines and coordinated objectives” are defined which will over the next few years “direct and accompany long-term actions” to be developed through the instrument of plans and projects”, towards the “progressive construction, project after project, of the new city of Reggio Calabria”.
Now that great idea has begun to take its first steps, thanks to the first two meetings in the area that were proposed by the municipal administration.
