“Help me realize my life dream and that of my parents.” It is theappeal “launched” on behalf of little Alfredo De Marco, a child of only three and a half years old from Siderno who, since September 28 of last year, has been fighting against hepatoblastoma, an aggressive liver cancer, which has metastasized to the lungs. Since the discovery of his disease, Alfredo has begun numerous chemotherapy treatments which initially reduced the tumor mass, allowing him to undergo surgery to remove it. Subsequently, however, despite the treatments, the child’s body began to no longer respond to the treatments and on August 27 of this year, a CT scan confirmed the “return” of the mass to the liver and the progression of the metastases.
Alfredo’s life chances are placed in experimental treatments in France (in Italy there would be no more adequate treatments for his case) at the Gustave Roussy hospital in Villejuif (Paris) or at the Inserm Bordeaux, in Bordeaux, a very expensive therapeutic path, in the order of about one million euros. For this reason, the family of little Alfredo appeals to the generosity of those who want to support them with a contribution in the treatments and expenses to be faced, making a donation at the link.
Even the mayor of Siderno, Maria Teresa Fragomenilaunched an appeal on his personal Facebook profile, to make a donation or to share the GoFundMe fundraiser “Donate to help Alfredo be saved”, promoted by the little boy’s mother, Maria Raffaella Crudo.
And many have responded in the last few hours, already reaching a sum of over 400 thousand euros, with over 28 thousand donations.
