Michela Moioli is back and Italy smiles with her. The Olympic and world snowboard champion had cried with emotion two weeks ago after the world cup podium in Les Deux Alpes, the first after the injury, but today in Cervinia she rediscovered the joy of success, triumphing in Cervinia paired with Omar Visintin. The two Italians – Olympic silver medalists in Beijing 2022 – brought the Italian team back to the top step of the world cup at the end of the mixed team SnowboardCross which completed the Aosta Valley stage of the top circuit, a success that had been missing for two years, since the victory by Montafon in December 2021. «It’s an incredible feeling – declared the 28-year-old from Bergamo -. It means a lot to me to return to winning after the injury. I couldn’t have had a better partner to celebrate: he had a great race and I tried to live up to his performance, something I hadn’t done too well yesterday in the individual race (fifth, ed.). I didn’t think I could get on the podium in the first few races: I’m having so much fun and this for me is the best thing.” Winning both in the quarterfinals and in the semi-finals, in the decisive round Visintin interpreted the course in the best possible way, placing a significant advantage in the hands of her competing partner. The Bergamo team resisted France 1’s return attempt until the end (Loan Bozzolo-Chloe Trespeuch) and the photo finish proved Italy right. Third was Switzerland (Kalle Koblet-Sina Siegenthaler) and a good seventh place for the other Italian team (Lorenzo Sommariva and Sofia Belingheri) and seventh for Italia 3 (Tommaso Leoni and Sofia Groblechner). Visintin was also very satisfied at the finish line: «We both had an excellent performance. We are a couple that works: I did the best I could to give Michela the right advantage. She did her best, she is very strong and now we can celebrate this success and enjoy the holidays with a smile.” Moioli thus obtained his 40th podium in CDM. “I’m not completely back yet but I’m much better,” she said days ago. Now she has convinced everyone, besides herself.
