The Councillor for Social, Youth and Sport Policies of the Calabria Region, Catherine Capponi, also as coordinator of the Social Policies Commission of the Conference of the Regions, she participated, together with the councilors of the other Italian Regions, in the round table with the Ministry for Sport and Youth during which the issue related to the National Fund for Youth Policies and the Universal Civil Service was addressed.

This is the second meeting, after the one held last May, in which Minister Abodi had represented the need to start a periodic and permanent comparison with the regional councilors to youth policies to build a shared and systematic path for programming and managing interventions, in order to increasingly ensure the complementarity of initiatives implemented by different levels of government, enhancing good practices and encouraging the exchange of information and data also deriving from research and surveys carried out at a territorial level.

“We have brought to the attention of the Ministry – explains Caterina Capponi – the remaining open issues on the National Fund for Youth Policies, requesting the introduction of a state regulation that dictates the fundamental principles of the matter and establishes the specific national, regional and local autonomies functions, as well as the fair territorial distribution of the resources of the National Fund in compliance with the principles of adequacy and vertical subsidiarity”.

Among other topics addressed was the issue of universal civil service.

“In this regard – the representative of the Occhiuto Council also informs – we have asked for the valorization of the role of the Regions, where the outcome of the experience is determined, so as to exploit their institutional presence in the territories, the proximity and direct knowledge of the needs and subjects involved, also adding the request for a three-year and not annual financing, as already happens for other funds. It was – finally declares the councilor Capponi – a meeting that marks an important step towards the necessary synergy, both at national and regional level, with the aim of arriving at a shared strategy, both on the front of youth policies and universal civil service”.
