With an act of direction the Municipality of Soverato extends the state concessions until 31 December 2024. The mayor Daniele Vacca and the councilor for urban planning and state property Giusy Altamura have worked intensely in recent months in an attempt to find the best solution to avoid any blockages in the local economy resulting from a regulatory vacuum that did not make it possible to issue new tenders in time for the 2024 season.
«For some time – explains the mayor of Soverato – we have been working to try to respond to the European directives on the banning of state concessions and at the same time to avoid a blockade of the tourist economy in the city. We were waiting for the issuance of implementing decrees that could dictate the instructions to follow to put the concessions back out for tender and which, however, never arrived. We have drawn our conclusions from this regulatory void. Hence the consideration that no path could be practicable to start the procedures for tendering the titles and finish them in time for the start of the 2024 season. With the great commitment of councilor Giusy Altamura we therefore looked for an alternative path, finding it in the possibility of an extension until 31 December 2024, approved by the Council in the last session”.
«A dutiful response to give to our entrepreneurs – the comment of councilor Giusy Altamura – and to the whole territory which would certainly have had serious repercussions from a possible block of activities which could have resulted from a forced inertia of the Municipality, waiting to receive directives on how to behave. We hope in this way, at least temporarily, to have reassured those who have already invested in our territory and will be able to do so also in the next season”.
