Elisabetta Cocciaretto celebrates her second WTA title in her career. During the Italian night, the 24-year-old from Ancona won the “Hobart International”, WTA 250 with a prize pool of 283,347 dollars which took place on the hard courts of the capital of Tasmania, Australia.
Cocciaretto, number 80 in the world, beat American teenager Iva Jovic, number 30 in the ranking and third seeding favorite, 6-4 6-4 in the final. The second Italian after Rita Grande 25 years ago to enter her name in the tournament’s roll of honor, the Marche native therefore achieves her second success in the major circuit after that of 2023 in Lausanne (beaten Clara Burel in the final), the year in which she also reached the final in Hobart, surrendering to Lauren Davis. Followed in Australia as always by coach Fausto Scolari, Cocciaretto started from the qualifiers and on Monday should be around 56th place in the WTA rankings.
