Sport as a tool for inclusion, personal growth and active participation of young people. This was the theme at the center of the institutional meeting held at the regional Citadel of Catanzaro, in the presence of the regional councilor for education, sport and youth policies, Eulalia Micheli.
During the initiative, three deaf athletes from the FSSI – Italian Deaf Sports Federation were awarded, protagonists of important sporting results achieved in recent months. The awards went to Noemi Canino from Catanzaro and to Silvio Licastro and Simone Cicero, both from Cosenza.
Recognition for athletes and the value of sport
The prizes awarded to the athletes were intended to underline not only the sporting goals achieved, but also the commitment, talent and educational values that sport is able to transmit, in particular in terms of inclusion and equal opportunities.
The participation of sports institutions and associations
Various representatives from the regional sporting and associative world took part in the meeting: Antonio Mirijello, president of ENS Calabria; Francesco Scalise, FSSI Calabria delegate; Salvatore Guarnaccia, president of CGSI Calabria; Antonello Scagliola, president of CIP Calabria; Giulio Solla, president of ENS Cosenza; and Daniele Lettieri, secretary of ENS Calabria.
The institutional comparison reiterated the central role of sport as a vehicle for social inclusion, participation and growth for the young generations, confirming the Region’s attention towards policies capable of enhancing different abilities and promoting a more equal society.
