It seems to move in the future, between science and science fiction, taking two steps in the world that will come. Among the futuristic machines, illuminated teachers, young researchers with an extra gear, two and a half meters thick walls, extraordinary CT, start-ups that design and create pieces never seen before and very, very much more. Don’t think of remote places, don’t fear the chronicler’s exaggerations. It’s all true and a stone’s throw from the Cosenza urban area. These are the Star workshops (Southern Europe Thomson Backscattering Source for Applied Research) in one of the structures of the University of Calabria. A nest that since 2008 has welcomed dreams that have first become ideas and then made, tools, circuits and technologies thanks to projects financed by the Ministry of Education that has rewarded (and did very well) the inventions of this group of scientists of all ages and different sectors.
