Mayor Flavio Stasi heard by the first Regional Commission against the repeal of the contributions for the merger of the Municipalities.
Already last July, Stasi had intervened firmly, defining the attempted repeal as a “short-sighted choice and a cultural and economic setback for Calabria”.
A concept reiterated last Thursday. During the hearing, the mayor of Corigliano-Rossano defended the value of financial support for union processes: «It is not an accounting fact but a choice of institutional vision. The law must be updated, not cancelled.”
The discussion on the future of local authorities and on the merger processes in Calabria therefore takes place at Palazzo Campanella, preceded also by other positions taken such as those of the exponents of the M5s and the Democratic Party who had attacked the centre-right majority in the Region, accusing it of wanting to «punish the Corigliano-Rossano merger for reasons purely of political conflict and of wanting to discourage future mergers».
