The United States Supreme Court suspended, in the early hours of Saturday, the expulsion of alleged members of Venezuelane gangs, decided by the Trump Administration based on a 18th century law. Last month, President Donald Trump had invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to start the raking of Venezuelan migrants in Texas accused of belonging to the Gang Tren de Aragua, before expelling them in a maximum security prison in El Salvador.
“The government has the order not to expel any member of the alleged class of prisoners from the United States up to the new order of this Court,” reads the ordinance.
