Francesco Rizzo confirmed as head of the Strait Port System Authority. With the signing of the decrees by the Vice President of the Council and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, the Strait Port System Authority enters a new phase. The appointment of Francesco Rizzo from commissioner to president marks a decisive transition for the full operation of a strategic body that manages the ports of Messina, Milazzo, Tremestieri, Villa San Giovanni, Reggio Calabria and Saline.

The Strait AdSP represents a vital node for the mobility of people and goods between Sicily and Calabria, as well as a key point of the entire national logistics and maritime system. The new president will have the task of leading a complex and high-potential area, where every decision directly affects territorial continuity, the efficiency of connections and the economic development of the South.

With this appointment, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport confirms its desire to strengthen the governance and operational stability of the Authority, guaranteeing a four-year mandate based on planning and strategic vision. Among Rizzo’s objectives is to carry out infrastructure modernization projects, the improvement of port services and integration with regional and national transport systems, with a view to sustainability and innovation.

The completion of the framework of appointments in the Italian Port System Authorities – which also includes Francesco Mastro at the AdSP of the Southern Adriatic Sea and Bruno Pisano at the Eastern Ligurian Sea – marks an important step in the MIT policy to make the entire port system of the country more competitive and coordinated. But it is above all the Strait that occupies the center of attention today: an area where infrastructure, economy and territorial identity intertwine, and where Francesco Rizzo’s leadership is called upon to give a new push towards efficiency, growth and the valorisation of the strategic role of one of the most important maritime corridors in Italy.
