It’s an invasion now. Except it’s not a science fiction movie and the invaders aren’t aliens. The appeals made a few days ago fell on deaf ears. AND Ginostrafraction of Stromboli with problems that have never been resolved, he finds himself facing a new emergency that has “gone out of hand”.

The goats have occupied the island village “and in Ginostra the inhabitants are in danger”, he underlines Gianluca Giuffrèspokesperson of the civic committee: «Over two thousand goats are literally destroying the village in the silence of the institutions. After the elipist and the church square it was our turn graveyard which has been desecrated and whose graves have been damaged by goats. A serious problem also arises at the level of hygiene as well as civil protection and the safety of the inhabitants. We have written several times and asked the Mayor of Lipari and the various regional bodies to intervene but no one deigns to respond. Does Ginostra still belong to the Municipality of Lipari? – asks Giuffrè –. And are the municipal administration and the various regional bodies capable of defending their citizens from a herd of goats? There is no peace even for the deceased».
In recent days the committee spokesperson reported everything to the police: «In the next few days we will present a complaint so that responsibilities can be ascertained and request compensation for moral and material damage. For the rest we can only say protest against institutions incapable of protecting their citizens.”
Meanwhile, all is silent regarding the similar problem on the island of Alicudi, where a new plan to transfer the animals is awaited, given that the previous one was not possible to implement.
