One of the leaders of the Islamic State was killed by Syrian forces, in collaboration with the international anti-jihadist coalition led by the United States. The Syrian Interior Ministry announced this after announcing the arrest of several other ISIS members. “Specialized units (…) conducted a security operation in al-Buwayda, near Damascus, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Intelligence and in coordination with international coalition forces,” the ministry said in a statement. This operation “led to the neutralization of the terrorist Mohammad Shahada, known as Abu Omar Shaddad, considered one of the main leaders of ISIS in Syria”, added the same source.
