The construction of 2 new wells was financed by the Region, after the Municipality presented a request for intervention in the context of the state of water emergency also proclaimed for the territory of the Metropolitan City and managed by the Department of Civil Protection.
The Municipal Council took note of this through two different resolutions which authorize the forfeiture of the funds in the Municipal Budget and authorize the head of the Technical Area, Antonino Bernava, to proceed with the administrative and operational follow-up that is required.
The total regional grant obtained is 400,000 euros, to strengthen the collection capacity both in the Uliveto district (243,035 euros) and in the Razzà district (157,562 euros), the two localities where the Municipal Administration – in the Plan which received new impetus at the beginning of the current mandate of Mayor Roy Biasi, after he had launched it in his previous administrative managements – has long concentrated its interventions to make it efficient and the city network is economically sustainable.
The assignment decided by the Region dates back to last June, a step which then gave rise to the signing of the relevant agreements with the Municipality the following August.
«In addition to the substance of the funding obtained – declares Mayor Roy Biasi – in this case it is also useful to note the timing of the two procedures that the organization has set in motion without proclamations or outcry, as part of that strategy that prefers facts to words that my Administration has always implemented. Already last summer, with the exception of some sporadic malfunctions in the month of September due to faults on the Enel networks, and therefore without the responsibility of the Municipality, we saw that even that critical issue which afflicted a very limited part of the upper area of the city was completely overcome, and yet we received instrumental attacks to which, in fact, we never wanted to reply because as usual we had ready the countermeasures that our continuous monitoring suggested to us: silent work pays off and the people of Tauriano appreciate this, certainly not the alarmism and the chaos that was instigated on social media and in the newspapers by some irresponsible opponents.”
The other objective that the Municipality has now set itself, after having resolved the atavistic problem of water supply, is now shown to be even closer to realization thanks to the forthcoming opening of the two new wells, namely that of delivering an efficient local system in all its areas to the future management of the water service by Arrical, which will also have responsibility for the collection of taxes.
«The synergy that we have activated with the Occhiuto Council – concludes Mayor Biasi – continues to pay off, just as we had predicted when in the media storm unleashed by those without arguments we said, in fact, that we would take advantage of the declaration of the state of emergency that the Region obtained from the Meloni government, given the epochal nature of a problem that has always been due to the growing drought in our areas, the little rain, and never to errors in municipal planning. I therefore thank the regional Department for the contribution given, and, in the context of the continuous dialogue with President Occhiuto, I am sure that we can confirm and achieve the objective of disconnecting the city network from the extra-municipal source of the Vitarito district, which has proven to be old and uneconomical, thus introducing, as I had personally guaranteed, authorized water for all uses and completing that efficiency improvement which since this Administration has been in office they have noticed in San Martino, in Amato and in the upper part of Taurianova”.
