Pasquale Riillo, 51 years old, originally from Isola di Capo Rizzuto and resident in Gualtieri, in the Reggio Emilia area, is the worker who died yesterday morning in a dramatic workplace accident that occurred in Polesine Parmense, in the Lower Parma area. The tragedy occurred around 8.30 am, inside a sand quarry located in Strada Argine Maestro del Po.
According to an initial reconstruction, still being examined by the competent bodies, Riillo was working near a hopper, a machine used for the storage and movement of inert materials, when he was crushed inside the plant. The trauma reported was too severe. The 118 medics, who quickly arrived on site, attempted to rescue him, but there was nothing they could do for the 51-year-old.
