New important step in the investigation into the death of Giuseppe Augliera, the 36-year-old from Messina subjected to Tso, who died after an ambulance journey from Messina to Corleone.
The Termini Imerese prosecutor Umberto Puiatti has in fact entrusted a task to one of his consultants to examine the service tablet that the ambulance had on board. The assignment will be formally given today, in the Corleone carabinieri barracks, who are investigating the matter. After the first steps of the investigation, the key data is that Augliera died during the journey, arriving already lifeless at the Corleone hospital.
In addition to the causes of death, the prosecutor wants to ascertain with the investigation the correctness of the diagnostic choices of the doctors who treated and cared for him according to the guidelines, whether the patient’s state was compatible with ambulance transport, whether the presence of a psychiatrist on board the ambulance was mandatory or not, and whether the 36-year-old could have been saved with “techniques with saving efficacy”.
The magistrate has long since registered as a necessary act in the register of suspects seven people including doctors and health workers who took care of the patient, in this case they are the professionals from the Papardo hospital in Messina and those, doctors and nurses, who were on board the 118 ambulance. The prosecutor currently hypothesizes two crimes, manslaughter and negligent liability for death or personal injury in a healthcare setting.
The defenders of the seven health workers under investigation are the lawyers Toni Cappadona, Salvatore Papa, Giovanni Caroé and David Saccone. (na)
