The legal case involving Paolo Giorgi, convicted for the murder of Giuseppe Aguì which occurred on 30 November 1991 in Bovalino, returns under the lens of the Locri Prosecutor’s Office.
The lawyer Antonio Russo, Giorgi’s defender, after the complaint presented on May 27, has filed a new detailed brief in recent days which raises significant questions about the ways in which the photographic recognition decisive for the conviction was conducted. At the center of the document there is a Polaroid photograph, indicated as “number 2”, which would have been used to identify the suspect.
According to what is reported in the memorandum, “the photograph (…) is not attached to the relevant report” and “is not otherwise present in the file”.
Lawyer Russo’s reconstruction starts from a key piece of data: at 00.55 on 30 November 1991, a few hours after the murder, the investigators showed the jewelers who had suffered the robbery a photographic file made up of 18 images, including one depicting Paolo Giorgi. «The photographic recognition (…) was negative and this investigative outcome allowed Paolo Giorgi to be excluded from the circle of suspects», writes the defender.
