The 79th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic was celebrated in Cosenza with a solemn ceremony held in Piazza 11 Septemberin the presence of the prefect Rosa Maria Padovano. The event kicked off with the deployment of the Interforce Training Department, made up of representatives of the armed forces and the armed and civil bodies of the State, who made the honors to the highest government authority.
The event included the flag -raising, accompanied by the execution of the Mameli’s amus by the 1st Bersaglieri Regiment, during which the firefighters unrolled the tricolor on the facade of the Prefecture. On the same occasion, the message of the President of the Republic was read and two gold medals were conferred “victims of terrorism” and nine Omri honors (order of merit of the Italian Republic): seven knights, an officer and a commander.
The ceremony also took part in the fighting and weapon associations, the banners of the municipality and the province of Cosenza and other centers of the province, as well as the medals and labars of the associations themselves. To embellish the commemorative moment, the performance of the Orchestra of the Comprehensive Institute of Cerisano, which proposed three music songs, two of which with the vocal accompaniment of the main Tanzillo and professor Tenuta. At the same time, Corso Mazzini hosted a static exhibition with stands and means on display of the armed forces, law enforcement and firefighters, attracting numerous citizens and families.
