«The Calabria Region supports wicked policies of the national government which, in our territory, will have a very strong social impact. We are talking about suppression and merged with school autonomies with an operation that will lead to the paradox of 15-20 school complexes managed by a single manager. In the next three years there are 84 autonomies that will fail with a social butcher’s maneuver that will cost a lot in terms of jobs. And this is only the first step to then cut school complexes later ».
This is the salient passage of the intervention that the regional councilor Antonio Lo Schiavo, President of the Mixed Group – Freely progressive, he made yesterday during the regional council session, announced his vote against the proposal to modify the time schedule relating to the procedures and administrative measures for the definition of the regional school sizing plan.
“Not only did he not have to appeal to the TAR – added the slave – as other regions of the south correctly did; Not only has he not raised a conflict of institutional skills, as the Emilia Romagna Region did: Calabria has been slavishly adapted to the will of the government and, even, now accelerates this process of social butcher shop. Yes, because this plan can have devastating consequences, endorsing a vicious circle that will do nothing but feed the depopulation and school abandonment. In a region that also serves a historic delay in road infrastructures, the logical consequence will be the suppression of the most peripheral complexes. This is damage to Calabrian citizens, and the Region even anticipates its implementation times. For these reasons I am absolutely against the school sizing plan but I would have hoped for the opposition also by the representatives of the executive who instead intended to facilitate this destructive process “.
