The new short film directed by Andrea Belcastro entitled “The Comedian”, written together with Giulia Rossi And Francesco Aiello.
After the premiere at the Ortigia Film Festival in Syracuse and the presentation in early October at the Unical Campus cinema, the latest effort by the young director and screenwriter from Cosenza tackles the thorny topic of the end of life from an unusual angle, that of a middle-aged former actor, alone and lost in the illusion of success, who accompanies the dying, giving them a last laugh in a surreal and poetic dimension.
In the narration of the story, which then turns dramatic, the “Comedian” will have to deal with his own past, made up of shortcomings and regrets.
The protagonist is the actor Saverio La Ruinawho leaves the stage for the first time, accompanied by his lifelong colleague Dario De Lucaclean-shaven for the occasion, and from an intense Annamaria De Luca. They also stand out in the cast Francesca Alati, Alessandro Castriota Scanderbeg and the little one Irene Aiello.
Directing actors of different ages and professionalisms didn’t worry too much Belcastrofor which “the director’s role is to limit changes as much as possible to the original idea of the project. It’s about bringing the boat to port – he says – ensuring that both the crew, the actors and the workers converge towards the trajectory of the ship”.
The film, shot between Cosenza and Fiumefreddo Bruzio, is produced by Épos Filma new independent film production company that Belcastro he founded with Francesco Aielloanother talent from Cosenza, and from Open Fields Productionwith the support of Mic-General Management Cinema, New Imaie And Calabria Film Commission. The soundtrack signed by is a gem Mesa.
Épos He also has another fictional short film to his credit, entitled “Veloicità di fuga”, recently awarded at the Voghera Film Festival, and the documentary “Evviva Sant’Antonio”, produced in collaboration with the municipality of Rotonda (Pz) and Gal – The Citadel of Knowledge.
