It will be the national premiere of the documentary “I Quindici” to inaugurate the 22nd edition of the Horcynus Festival on Thursday 18th July at 9.30pmwhich has the artistic direction of Franco Jannuzzi, Erfan Rashid, Giacomo Farina and Luigi Polimeni. The director Alessandro Turchi, in this work, tells the story of the redemption and rebirth of the 15 brewers from Messina who, after the closure of the historic Birra Messina, built the Birrificio Messina, collecting the moral, but also professional, legacy of the city establishment no longer operational for many years.

Turchi who, together with Monia Alfieri and Morgan Maugeri, have followed this story since the fifteen master brewers decided to invest their severance paytheir life savings and their knowledge in a new, adventurous entrepreneurial activity that took shape in the Birrificio Messina, which became a case of national and international resonance.

Before the screening, starting at 8:30 p.m., there will be a greeting from the organizers of the Horcynus Festival and a meeting with a representation of the workers buyout of the Metropolitan City of Messina, supported and accompanied by the MeSSIna Foundation. Workers buyout are companies regenerated by workers in the form of a cooperative of social enterprise or other participatory forms.

These are the weekend’s events

The film will be screened on Friday 19th July at 9pm the film “Circo Fellini” made in 2011 by the Italian cinema historian Adriano Aprà, who tells, through an excursus of film clips and interviews with those who worked on it, the secrets of the film “I clowns” (1970) by Federico Fellini, made with the support of the greatest Italian circus families, brings the circus on stage as a metaphor for life itself.

The film will be shown next at 10pm “I Am Legend” (2007)by Francis Lawrence: Following an epidemic caused by a deadly man-made virus, scientist Robert Neville discovers that he is the sole survivor of New York City, if not the entire planet Earth.

After the awards ceremony, it will be time for great music with the long-awaited concert by Radiodervish, a group born from the artistic partnership between Nabil Salameh and Michele Lobaccaro, who more than anyone else has fully defined a poetics and vision of the world aligned with an Italy as a bridge between Europe and the Mediterranean. The band, for the occasion, will be exceptionally accompanied by Faisal Taher, historic singer of the Kunsertu group, the most representative Palestinian voice in Italy, expertly balanced between tradition and contemporaneity.

In the presence of the author, the phenomenon of “maggiorate” will be analyzed, an expression that united successful actresses with an uncommon sexual charge, such as Silvana Mangano, Silvana Pampanini and Sophia Loren.
