The Excellence Acting Award goes to Monica Guerritore

The twelfth edition of the “Milazzo Film Festival” comes to life with the presence on the stage of the Trifiletti theater of Monica Guerritore, one of the most appreciated performers in the cinema and theater scene, who this evening will receive the “Excellence Acting Award”, a recognition dedicated to acting excellence.

Immediately after the award ceremony, the public will be able to attend the screening of the film Anna, which sees Guerritore herself as director and protagonist together with Tommaso Ragno, Beatrice Grannò, Lucia Mascino and Roberto De Francesco. Tomorrow morning at 9am the actress will instead meet high school students in a moment of discussion on cinema and acting. The event, curated by the artistic directors Mario Sesti and Caterina Taricano, will be accompanied by talks and a screening of the film Anna. In the evening, there will be space for other screenings of short films and the presentation of a further “Excellence Acting Award” to Laura Morante. Yesterday evening, however, on the first day of the event, applause for Ficarra and Picone, awarded with the “Excellence Acting Award” presented by Giampaolo Letta. Followed by a screening of the film Summer Time.

Then there was space for the cinema with the international short film competition, which saw the screening of Italian and foreign works, including “Hold on” by David Barbieri, “Esagerata” by Giuseppe Cacace and “Bali” by the Chinese director Fubao Fan. One of the most significant moments of the day was the meeting with the paralympic athlete Andrea Devicenzi, accompanied by the screening of the short film “Crossing the North”, in an event organized by the Milazzesi Sports Movement. In the foyer of the theater there was also a touching moment dedicated to the memory of the unforgettable marcher Annarita Sidoti, with the presentation of a short film about her extraordinary career.
