Mythological bodies, enigmatic faces, female figures emerge from the glass like apparitions suspended between ancient and present, between matter and spirit, between pain and beauty. These are the works that make up the exhibition “Mediterranean – Transparencies between stories and myths” by the artist Silvio Vigliaturo, which will be inaugurated on Friday 24 October, at 7 pm, inside the San Giovanni monumental complex, in Catanzaro.
Kicking off the events that will lead to the award ceremony of the Silver Carlino Award, which will be held on 21 December, could only be a Calabrian excellence, a symbol of talent and creativity, appreciated at an international level.
Thanks to the organizational machinery of the event, now in its eighth edition, promoted by the association of the same name with the patronage of the Municipality of Catanzaro, the Province of Catanzaro, the Chamber of Commerce of Catanzaro-Crotone-Vibo Valentia, the Chamber of Calabrian artisan fashion, the Italian Federation of Popular Traditions and the Catanzaro Host Lions Club, the artist born in Acri and settled in Chieri, in Piedmont, where the heart of his creative activity, he will return to his land to embellish a symbolic place of the city of Catanzaro with his art.
Among the greatest exponents of glass fusion, capable of transforming matter and taming the generating force of fire, in the ovens of his artistic workshop, Vigliaturo gives life to fluid, supple, smooth and transparent sculptures, in which the masterful use of color finds its extreme exaltation.
The exhibition “Mediterranean – Transparencies between stories and myths”, which can be visited free of charge until 7 December, from Tuesday to Saturday, from 5pm to 8pm, represents a unique opportunity to explore the artist’s wealth of knowledge and contamination, nurtured over years of experiences at every latitude, from New York to Tokyo.
The details of the exhibition will be illustrated by Vigliaturo himself, supported by the curator of the exhibition, Antonella Bongarzone, on Friday 24 October, at 6.30 pm, during a press conference that will precede the inauguration, again at the San Giovanni monumental complex. Also speaking will be Amedeo Mormile, president of the Province of Catanzaro, Pietro Falbo, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Catanzaro-Crotone-Vibo Valentia, Nicola Fiorita, mayor of Catanzaro, and Yves Catanzaro, president of the ETS Silver Carlino Award association, who will announce the events preceding the award ceremony of the Silver Carlino Award.
