The New York Times: “Sinwar’s death gives hope for the end of the conflict”
The death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar could give hope for an end to the conflict, pushing the organization “to accept some of Israel’s demands” and providing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a symbolic victory that would grant him the political cover he needs to soften its negotiating position. The New York Times reports it. American officials have not yet commented on Sinwar, but if his death were confirmed the consequences for the administration would be significant. According to CNN, it could be the event that many US officials had indicated as a turning point in the war between Israel and Hamas.
