In the Chamber of Palazzo Madama the bill was approved with 85 yes, 40 no and 15 abstentions which introduces into Italian law the specific aggravating circumstance of profiteering.

The provision, which was modified in the Justice Commission by a government amendment, consists of a single article in which prison terms of up to 12 years and fines of up to 5,000 euros are foreseen for those who commit actions “of theft or looting” against people or places “struck by calamities or, more generally, by misfortunes”. IV and Avs voted against, while the M5S abstained. The text now goes to the House. (HANDLE).
