Maestro Filippo Arlia, artistic director of the Mediterraneo Radio Festival, loves contamination, now in its seventh edition to unite the music and culture of the Mediterranean, promoting different musical genres between the ancient village of Nocera Terinese overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and Catanzaro, a piece of that varied atlas rich in history and cultural traditions that is Calabria.

The Festival, which, according to the figure set from the beginning, combines different musical genres, classical music, jazz and popular music, in a fascinating crossroads of traditions, styles and eras, is organized by the “PI Tchaikovsky” State Conservatory of Music of Nocera Terinese, with the artistic direction of Filippo Arlia, the production direction of Raffaele Cacciola and the media partnership of Rai Radio 3.

An edition, this one in 2026, of international scope, with six shows on the bill and the participation of very high profile artists.
The musical event, which began on March 10th at the “Saverio Arlia” Auditorium, will be concluded by two important events in Nocera Terinese: tomorrow Igor Stravinsky’s «Histoire du soldat» will be performed by the Calabria Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Vincenzo Mariozzi, and the reciting voice will be that of Rocco Papaleo, this year’s special guest. And on June 17, to unite everyone, musicians and public, in the name of the soul of bold and happy tango (not just “a sad thought that is danced”, according to the well-known definition of Enrique Santos Discépolo) will be a “Noche de Tango”, directed by maestro Arlia with the timeless Astor Piazzolla with the “Concierto de nacar, Tres Tangos, Contemplation y dance”: on the bandoneon, Cesare Chiacchiaretta, Loris Douyez on violin, Marco Acquarelli on electric guitar, Fabrizio Meloni on clarinet, Gabriele Screpis on bassoon, Nico Fuscaldo on piano, and special guests the Cameristi of the Teatro alla Scala.

The Mediterraneo Radio Festival, under the careful direction of Arlia, thus confirms itself as a true cultural laboratory capable of combining musicological rigor and popular vocation, enhancing musical excellence, promoting the educational role of the Conservatory and strengthening the link between territory, artistic production and major national media.
