Agreement between the Sicilian Region and Antonio Presti Foundation to promote contemporary art, safeguard the works created and train young people in collaboration with other institutions and associations. The memorandum of understanding which, on the proposal of the regional councilor for cultural heritage, aims to support and enhance the heritage of the Fiumara d'Arte and spread the contemporary cultural offer and land art Francesco Paolo Scarpinatoreceived the appreciation of the Schifani council.
«My government immediately accepted the appeal of the Messina patron – states the President of the Region, Renato Schifani – and started a working group involving the councilors of Cultural Heritage and Tourism to trace a shared path of protection and enjoyment of the works present in the Fiumara d'Arte and in all the areas of Sicily in which Antonio Presti promoted culture and beauty. But not only that: the Region and the Presti Foundation intend to collaborate to promote a virtuous system of production of contemporary cultural offerings. The development of this particular artistic sector contributes to making our island attractive to international tourism.”
In particular, the Region guaranteed the Presti Foundation financial coverage for the first edition of “The triennial of contemporaneity” with 340 thousand euros included in the “financial connection” last month. The event aims to select, every three years, a series of innovative works and artists, which can fuel the imagination of the foundation within the areas of Fiumara d'Arte (open-air museum of monumental sculptures), Atelier sul Mare ( museum-hotel), Librino district in Catania (Magma-open-air museum), Etna-The viewpoints of the soul.
