First step by June 10th. End of works: August 2026. The first two weeks of the construction site of the restyling of the tramway have not brought large settings to the dowry. At least so far. The whole part of Viale San Martino that goes from Piazza Cairoli to via Maddalena is unrecognizable. The old road was completely demolished. The bulldozers have torn the asphalt and are now also detaching the basils (recoverable later) of lava stone which for decades were the bottom of the wider (and busy) road in the city.
Now the technicians are struggling with the underground services of the area and some surprises have emerged. They are, some, a little higher than we expected, but the management should not delay the work, says the director of the works Sergio Moscheo.
As is now known, from the curb of the tram to the shops, a single walking surface will be made. Farewell to the old “road-mature” effect and space for a real uniform pedestrian island. One of the novelties of the last meetings of the design staff and the client is that of the color of the bottom of the new plan. Contrary to what has been seen in some “renderings”, the effect will be “noir”.
