After the great success recorded in recent years “Il Treno degli Dei” is back on the Calabrian tracks. The initiative is promoted by the Calabria Region and the FS Foundation, in collaboration with the Associazione Ferrovie in Calabria and with the municipalities of Bagnara Calabra and Tropea. Four appointments on the calendar, to discover the fascinating Calabrian Tyrrhenian coast: the historic train, made up of “Centoporte” carriages from the 1930s and “Corbellini” from the 1950s, will travel on Friday 18, Saturday 19, Friday 25 and Saturday 26 August two tourist itineraries between Paola and Reggio Calabria passing through Tropea to allow passengers to admire the wide beaches between Paola and Vibo Valentia, the citrus groves of the Lamezia plain, the inlets near Capo Vaticano, the overhanging rocks interspersed from the coves of the Costa Viola and enjoy the view of the Strait, skirting the beautiful villages of Tropea, Pizzo, Scilla and Bagnara.

It will be possible to choose between two itineraries, the first is called “Tropea, Borgo degli Dei” and foresees the departure of the train from the Paola station at 15.42 and the intermediate stops in the stations of Amantea (16.06), Lamezia Terme Centrale (16.32), Pizzo (16.59), Zambrone (17.20) up to Tropea (17.33), the pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea, which this year won the five sails of Legambiente. The return train will leave Tropea at 00.56 to return to Paola at 02.35, and will make intermediate stops in Zambrone (01.06), Pizzo (01.25), Lamezia Terme Centrale (01.49), Amantea (02.14).

The second itinerary, instead called “Costa Viola By Night”, departing from Tropea at 18.03 will make an intermediate stop at Ricadi-Capo Vaticano (18.16), and is dedicated to the discovery of the villages of Bagnara, Scilla and the city of Reggio Calabria with its seafront, known as the most beautiful kilometer of Italy, to experience a romantic sunset journey along the Tyrrhenian railway and enjoy the unique landscapes of the Costa Viola. The return train will leave from Reggio Calabria Centrale at 11.10pm and arrive in Tropea at 00.56am, with intermediate stops at Reggio Calabria Lido (11.16pm), Scilla (11.39pm), Bagnara (11.48pm), Ricadi Capo Vaticano (00.36am) and Rosarno (00.14am ).
