He was found safe and sound iThe 30-year-old boy from Messina got lost near Lake Costantino, in the area of the Municipality of San Luca. An impervious area of the Aspromonte national park, which required the intervention of the territorial teams of the Bianco and Gambarie fire brigades and the SAF specialists from the provincial command. The young man had slipped off a cliff but, thanks to a professional GPS, he sent his position. The rescuers accompanied him to a safe place in the nearest town.

The alarm appears to have been raised by the boy’s mother, who had ventured out alone for an excursion. The parent, who contacted the provincial operations room in Viale Europa, said he had spoken to his son by telephone who, again according to what was communicated by the mother, should be in good health. It was he himself who asked for help because he was having difficulty finding the path back. The parents, who arrived in Reggio Calabria, were hosted in the operations room of the Fire Brigade from where they followed all the identification and recovery operations.

The forestry police were also on site. The Lamezia Terme fire brigade helicopter took off for the search and flew over the area to locate the boy.
