2026 opens with a triumph for Top Spin which, in Ancona, won the Italian Cup for the third time in its history (previously the Peloritani had lifted the trophy in 2019 and 2020). At the «Palascherma» in the Marche capital, president Giorgio Quartuccio’s team defeated Sassari, the reigning Italian champions and second place in the A1 championship at the end of the first round, with a score of 3 to 2.
The Peloritani, therefore, took revenge for the championship final which, last May, saw the Sardinians sewing the tricolor on their shirts at the end of a very tight and hard-fought challenge. Top Spin who had qualified for the final after the success against Bagnolese 3 to 1, while Sassari had overcome Muravera, again with the same score.
Absolute protagonist Vladislav Ursu, winner of two singles, Stoyanov’s success 3 to 2 against Puppo was also decisive.
