The farmers’ protest reaches Strasbourg. Around a hundred tractors blocked the entrance to the European Chamber while the debate on the conclusions of the latest EU summit was underway in the presence of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Council, Charles Michel. The police intervened by raising mobile barriers to contain the protest. A few hundred demonstrators are now gathered in front of the main entrance, blocking the circulation of cars and public transport.
«It is an important opening point, it is the first partially positive proposal that we have heard in the last period. However, we do not agree with the idea of giving more money to those who leave land uncultivated.” To say it Danilo Calvani, leader of the Committee of betrayed farmers Cra, regarding Ursula von der Leyen’s proposal to withdraw the pesticide regulation. “It is a first point in favor of our proposals, we are on the right path – he continues – But our protest continues. We want the facts. We ask for the cancellation of all bilateral pacts with non-EU countries that are killing us”.
