“We are moving forward towards the final step for the completion of the adaptation works of the former slaughterhouse where, at the beginning of the new year, the State Archives will move. The inspection carried out yesterday together with the mayor Nicola Fiorita and the councilor for Heritage, Antonio Battaglia, confirmed that the intervention which affected the building in via Milelli is now in the last phase, so much so that it is possible to foresee the move of the headquarters of ministerial responsibility in the first months of 2026”. City councilor Tommaso Serraino declared this in a note.
“At the same time, it will finally be possible to activate – continued Serraino – the leasing contract with the Municipality of Catanzaro, on the basis of the agreement already in place, and start the payment of the related fee, allowing the administration to receive important resources. The transfer of the State Archives to the site of the former slaughterhouse is a strategic objective for the functions of the historic center, a goal that has been worked on for a long time with a view to a collaboration between entities that will soon bear tangible fruits”.
“With this result, in fact, on the one hand it will be possible to safeguard and enhance the archive with its precious heritage of history and knowledge. On the other, another piece will be added to the action aimed at protecting municipal properties, giving a new purpose to containers otherwise condemned to abandonment. On this path – concluded Serraino – I have fought hard, since the first days of my mandate as councilor, to try to translate a political will into concrete activities capable of generating benefit for the community, with a view to that urban regeneration which can truly constitute a decisive factor for the relaunch of Catanzaro and, in particular, of its ancient heart”.
