Due to the war in Iran and the escalation of fuel prices at the pump, traveling by car during the Easter holidays this year will cause a drain on families. This was stated by Assoutenti, who created a report on the costs that Italians who will travel along the Peninsula for the holidays will have to face.
«For some routes the cost of refueling with diesel, going and returning, even exceeds 300 euros. – explains president Gabriele Melluso – For example, to go from Milan to Catania the average cost of the journey by car, without considering tolls, is 312 euros, which rises to 317 euros from Turin to Reggio Calabria and reaches 370 euros if you go from Turin to Palermo. You need 255 euros from Bolzano to Lecce and from Genoa to Catanzaro, 246 euros from Bologna to Reggio Calabria, 240 euros from Milan to Lecce.”
«If we then compare the current expenditure with that incurred by citizens to travel along the same routes for Easter 2025, we discover that the cost of supplies between the round trip is 86 euros higher on the Turin-Palermo route, and over 70 euros if traveling from Milan to Catania or from Turin to Reggio Calabria», adds Melluso. To save money, Assoutenti recommends avoiding filling up on the motorway. Before leaving, check the Mimit website and the appropriate apps for the distributors offering the most convenient price lists, and if you need to refuel during the journey, it is best to fill up at the facilities located near the motorway exits.
