The police commissioner of Vibo Valentia has issued two repatriation orders with a ban on return to the Municipality of Tropea against a man and a woman, both residing in another province and considered socially dangerous.
The provision arose from a report from the Tropea Police Station, following a check carried out in recent days as part of services aimed at protecting the territory. The police had in fact stopped a truck with the two subjects on board who, with a suspicious attitude, were wandering near accommodation facilities, private homes and particularly busy commercial activities.
Subsequent investigations revealed criminal and police records against both, including for crimes against property. Since they were not residents of the Municipality of Tropea and had not provided valid reasons for their presence in the city, the police commissioner – upon investigation by the Anti-Crime Division – ordered their removal from the municipal territory with a ban on return for a period of three years, in order to protect public order and safety.
At the same time, extraordinary joint control services continued over the weekend in the center of Tropea, aimed at preventing episodes of violence and combating illegal behavior linked to nightlife.
The checks involved the main access routes to the city, the areas with the greatest concentration of young people and places of aggregation. The operators of the State Police were involved in the field – with the support of the various units of the Vibo Valentia Police Headquarters, of the Southern Calabria Crime Prevention Department, of the Traffic Police, of the dog units, as well as soldiers of the Carabinieri, of the Guardia di Finanza and agents of the Local Police.
During the checks, 347 people were identified, of which 66 with criminal records, and 178 vehicles were checked. Furthermore, fines were imposed for violations of the Highway Code and various subjects subject to restrictive measures were inspected.
During the activities, personal and vehicular searches were also carried out, which led to the seizure of a narcotic substance from a person, for whom the administrative violation provided for by art. 75 of Presidential Decree 309/1990, resulting in the withdrawal of the driving license.
The set of operations, the Police Headquarters explain, is part of the constant commitment aimed at guaranteeing safety and legality in one of the busiest tourist centers in the province of Vibo.
