His home had been identified as a possible drug storage point. But when the police searched the apartment of the 25-year-old, resident in the seaside hamlet of Schiavonea, they found no trace of drugs.
The sniff of the drug-sniffing dogs changed the fate of the inspection: a small quantity of marijuana was found in an adjacent room, while the bulk of the narcotic was discovered in the attic of the house: hidden in a recess and wrapped in vacuum-packed cellophane bags, the soldiers found 20 blocks of hashish with a total weight of more than two kilograms.
The reagents supplied to the Army confirmed the nature of the substance, which will now be subjected to further laboratory analyses. The 25-year-old was arrested in flagrante delicto and transferred to the Castrovillari prison, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
