Green light of the 27 EU countries, as far as we learn, toagreement between the European Union and Great Britain, object of the London summit this morning. The formal ok of the member countries came through the so -called written procedure, which followed the go -ahead of the principle of the meeting of the permanent representatives of the 27. The agreement concerns a partnership for security and defense, a declaration of GB-EU solidarity and a common understanding on topics ranging from trade defense, from fishing to youth mobility.
As the BBC points out, the post-Brexit agreement reached provides for three key points among others: a safety pact between London and Brussels, in the light of international tensions and in particular of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, an agreement on veterinary alignment (to reduce barriers in the commercial interscchange of the agri-food) and also compared to youth mobility with Facilitated views valid 4 years for the under 30, but without a return to freedom of movement in force before the British divorce from the Union. Furthermore, a 12 -year extension is expected (compared to the sects that had been mentioned previously) of the agreements on fishing, strongly supported by the EU and above all by France.
According to Sky News, the agreement on this dossier does not involve any reduction in the British fishing fee or an increase in the fee for EU countries. The first details that emerged triggered the hard reactions by the British conservatories: the leader Kemi Badenoch si is called “very worried. We are returning to being subject to the rules of Brussels – said Badenoch – and without details on limits or times for youth mobility, the fears of a return to free movement will only increase ».
Farage, ‘Agreement with EU condemns the fishing industry’
The strategic partnership agreement with the EU “will end” to the British fishing industry. It is the first reaction of Nigel Farage, Leader of the Trumpian Reform UK and former Brexit tribune, at the announcement of the cessation reached between the EU and the United Kingdom before the start of the London summit. Farage, on his profile of X, has targeted the 12 -year extension of the agreements on fishing, strongly supported by the EU and especially by France, affirming that he will have drastic consequences for the fish sector in the kingdom. While BBC stressed that London’s extension of fishing shares made it possible to unlock the impasse of the EU-GB negotiations in the night and thus conclude the agreement.
