The University of Calabria activates 5 new specialization schools. “A significant investment in terms of human and structural resources, a significant milestone in the Unical project for Healthcare at the service of the territory” underlines the University. A Clinical pathology and clinical biochemistryactivated last year, starting today, in fact, General Surgery, Hematology, Cardiovascular Diseases and Nephrology are added. Registration will open next Wednesday and represents an important opportunity for young doctors who wish to become “specialists” in strategic health sectors. “Disciplines of great clinical relevance – it is written in a note – which enhance the regional university offer already active in the field of medical specializations and even, as in the case of the School of Hematology, represent a unique feature in the regional training panorama where it had never been activated. Furthermore, the specialists will constitute a very valid contribution to the improvement of health services provided in the territory. In fact, they will be supported by medical personnel in service at various hospital facilities distributed throughout the region”.
“Having obtained ministerial approval for the five specialization schools that we proposed – says the satisfied rector Nicola Leone – is an extraordinary result, which achieves one of the most important strategic objectives of the Unical project for healthcare, which is running fast, burning even this stage ahead of schedule, considering that the first year of Medicine has not even ended yet. The benefits are many. The new specialization places will allow our young people to train in Calabria, which in perspective will have a greater number of specialists in the area, more inclined to work in the region; while the healthcare facilities, right from the start, will benefit from the presence of the specialization doctors. The Schools are an ideal place for the development of innovative clinical and multidisciplinary studies in which to shape the specialists of the future”. From Wednesday 18 to Tuesday 24 September, candidates can choose the type and location of the specialization school. The assignments of candidates to the schools will be published on Wednesday, September 25th and subsequently the aspiring specialist will have to proceed with the registration to the school assigned to him by 12:00 on Monday, September 30th. The start date of the teaching activities is set for Friday, November 1st. The five schools, the note concludes, «are characterized by a wide training network, which embraces the regional territory, also making use of the excellence of the Gom of Reggio Calabria in Hematology, and crosses the regional borders on Nephrology which includes the Hospital of Potenza».
