The presentation of the volume “Affects on sale. Education, social media and crisis of emotional bonds”, an editorial and training project born within the Social Pedagogy courses, will be held on Thursday 9 April 2026 at 10.30 am, in the Solano Hall (Cubo 19B) of the University of Calabria.

The initiative is proposed as a moment of public and academic reflection on the relationship between education, relationships and digital languages, with particular attention to the new emotional fragilities generated by permanent connection. An opportunity for discussion between universities, schools, institutions and the territory on a topic considered among the most relevant of the present.

A project born from teaching

The volume is the result of a workshop promoted by Professor Giovanbattista Trebisacce, professor of general and social pedagogy and editor of the work. The work takes shape through the direct contribution of the students, who transformed experiences, observations and reflections into a shared and contemporary narrative.

At the center of the book is a key question: how feelings, the duration of relationships and the sense of meeting change in a society marked by speed, continuous exposure and the logic of visibility. The text addresses these aspects from a pedagogical perspective, avoiding superficial approaches and returning the topic to educational and cultural reflection.

Interventions and participants

The meeting will open with institutional greetings from the Honorable Giusy Princi, the Honorable Rosaria Succurro, Professor Maria Mirabelli, Professor Berardino Sciunzi, Doctor Loredana Giannicola and Professor Peppino Sapia, delegate of the rector.

This will be followed by the interventions of the authors Chiara Chiaravalloti, Federica Salineto, Gaia Tocci, Serena Spezzano, Miriam Aurora Cetera, Loredana Mazzaferro, Annamaria Carola Fusaro and Erica Spadafora, who will illustrate the educational and human path underlying the volume.

Contributions from teachers Angela Costabile, Rossana Adele Rossi and Simona Perfetti are also expected, confirming the interdisciplinary nature of the meeting, between pedagogy, psychology and training. Introduction and conclusions will be entrusted to Professor Trebisacce, while the presentation will be handled by the journalist Carmela Formoso.

Education and bonds in the digital age

The meeting is part of a research path that aims to bring the theme of sentimental education back to the center in a context in which even affections risk being influenced by the logic of consumption and immediacy. In this framework, pedagogy is indicated as a fundamental tool for enhancing reciprocity, responsibility and depth of relationships.

The presentation of the volume thus represents an example of how the university experience can generate paths of awareness and reflection capable of involving not only students, but the entire educational community.
