A multimedia experience in the reality of the most important network of the southern Italy, a South publishing company, to learn the editorial and technical dynamics on the field that determine journalistic production within its different media, the Gazzetta del Sud Giornale, the RTP TV, the GazzettadelSud.it website, the Radio Antenna of the Strait, but also a path of awareness and in -depth analysis of the journalistic profession, on quality information and communication. New media and challenges of technology, in particular on the generative artificial intelligence front. These are the themes on which the fourth edition of Unime-Gds Lab will focus, the journalistic technique laboratory aimed at students and students of the various Unime Departments and in particular to those of the degree courses in journalism, of which the laboratory will constitute the ideal practical complement thanks to the partnership with the South publishing company and with the Bonino Pulejo Foundation, a non-profit organization of the reference of the SES, which promotes the cultural growth of the territory and the cultural growth of the territory and of its young generations.
The initiative within the GDS Academy
The initiative is part of the SES and project GDS Academy “South Gazzetta in class with us magazine” Promoted by South publishing company through the weekly insert dedicated to young people and education, to encourage girls and boys the interest in current affairs, critical reading and responsible writing, in the sign of inclusion, legality, gender balance, social participation of the younger generations. A synergy that still sees together South publishing companies and the University of Messina, in the dialogue between the institutions of the territory and its productive forces, in order to offer young tools and resources in the path of personal, cultural and professional training. Purpose shared by the rector Unime Giovanna Spatari, together with the vicar proreor prof. Giuseppe Giordano, and by the president and editorial director of the South Gazzetta publishing company of the South Giornale di Sicilia Lino Morgante, together with the director responsible for the Gazzetta Nino Rizzo Nervo, who will inaugurate the activities by dialoguing with young people, as in the style of the GDS Academy.

The laboratory will be divided into 36 hoursdistributed in nine meetingsthrough theoretical and practical modules, focus primarily on reading the newspaper – in paper or digital format, with copies made available for the participants by the University – and on the production of articles, published on the insert We Magazinein order to implement the skills relating to the journalistic activity, of which the various operational implications will be deepened, by the profession “on the field” to communication in a broader sense.
Active participation in events are also envisaged, including those included in the context of GDS Academy linked to the project “South Gazzetta in class with us magazine”promoted by Ses for and with the schools of Messina and Calabria and in synergy with the University of Messina, with the patronage of the Order of Journalists of Sicily and the school office. Also Unime gds lab will be inserted as part of the project, with the publication on the weekly insert We Magazine of the articles written by the participants in the laboratory. The path also integrates the vocation of Unime to give students and students an enhancement in communication, an objective also achieved through the activity of Universalmultifaceted journalistic student newspaper of the Messina University with over one hundred editors and editor who collaborate permanently a We Magazinethe insert “young” of Gazzetta del Sud dedicated to education.
