An Iranian-run Uzbek cell is suspected of kidnapping and killing Israeli-Moldavian rabbi Zvi Kogan in the United Arab Emirates. The Mossad said an “intense” investigation had been launched in the Emirates after it was discovered that the disappearance of Kogan – who ran the Rimon kosher supermarket in Dubai – was linked to a terrorist act. The identity of the suspects is known, Ynet reports. Kogan traveled by car to the city of Al Ain, an hour and a half from Dubai, where his car was found abandoned. His phone was turned off. Initial investigations indicate that three Uzbeks followed the rabbi after he left the supermarket, and the serious suspicion is that they killed him. The Iranians’ use of Uzbek terrorists is very common, Israeli media reports. The three Uzbeks took a flight to Turkey, and Israeli security agencies are cooperating with their Turkish counterparts. The United Arab Emirates is the most video-surveilled country in the world, every street is recorded by CCTV cameras, which increases the chances of a breakthrough in the investigation.
