Vibo, Imposition trial: 67 convictions requested on appeal

Inquisition in the Court of Appeal, in Catanzaro, by the General Prosecutor’s Office in the second degree trial born from the DDA’s anti-mafia operation called “Imponimento”, started in July 2020. The prosecution requested the conviction of 67 defendants, judged in the first instance through the abbreviated procedure which earned them a one-third discount on their sentences. In the dock were representatives of the clans of Philadelphia, Lamezia Terme, Curinga, Vibo Valentia and Sant’Onofrio, but also municipal employees, entrepreneurs, lawyers, members of the police forces and employees of the Calabria Region. Among them the boss of Philadelphia Rocco Anello, 61 years old (already definitively convicted in other proceedings) for which a 20-year prison sentence was requested. The entrepreneur is also among the main defendants Daniele Prestanicola of Maierato (sentenced in first instance to 16 years and 2 months), e Angela Bartucca (12 year sentence requested), wife of Rocco Anello.
Civil parties in the trial are the Ministries of Economy and the Interior, the anti-racket association of Vibo Valentia and the Municipalities of Philadelphia, Curinga, Polia, Francavilla Angitola, Monterosso, San Nicola da Crissa, Pizzo, Capistrano, San Pietro a Maida, Cortale , Maierato, Chiaravalle Centrale, Maida, Cenadi, Sant’Onofrio, Vibo Valentia.
