Two separate episodes of violence and resistance to a public official in recent days, the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Unit of the Reggio Calabria Company were the protagonists. A 49-year-old and a 22-year-old, both already known to the police, ended up in handcuffs.

In the city center

The first episode occurred on the evening of November 5, when several calls to 112 reported the presence of a visibly altered man, who was annoying passers-by in the city centre. When the police arrived, the 49-year-old reacted violently, verbally attacking the soldiers and physically resisting the control. The force’s decisive and professional intervention made it possible to immobilize the man without further incidents.

To Cato

The second operation took place on the night of 8 November along Via Nazionale, in Catona, where the military was busy providing assistance in a road accident. During the operations, a car arrived at high speed, risking hitting the police. A 22-year-old young man was driving and, in an evident state of agitation, he threw himself at the soldiers, pulling them and threatening them. After being stopped, the young man was found in possession of a dose of marijuana and subjected to an alcohol test, which revealed a blood alcohol level well above the permitted limit.

The two arrested will now have to answer for charges of resisting and insulting a public official.

In both cases the criminal proceedings are at the preliminary investigation stage and therefore the two subjects are to be considered not guilty until finally convicted.
